BISMARCK, N.D. – Walk a Mile in My Shoes, hosted by MSA United Way, will take place on Wednesday, November 18, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Center for Opportunity, located at 1140 S. 12th Street in Bismarck. The community awareness event is designed to highlight the daily challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in the region.
Held during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (November 16-22), the walk encourages community members to experience a small part of what many homeless individuals face every day. Participants will walk about one mile to the Center for Opportunity, demonstrating the distance many residents must travel regularly to access food, shelter, and essential services.
By participating, community members can advocate for their neighbors in need while gaining a greater understanding of the realities of homelessness.
Following the walk, participants will have the opportunity to tour the Center for Opportunity and enjoy lunch.
The event is intended to foster awareness, build connections, and encourage community support for those experiencing homelessness.
The Center for Opportunity provides nightly shelter for up to 140 men, women, and children and partners with local agencies to connect residents with mental health and addiction services, identification assistance, employment resources, housing assistance, and other critical support services.
Community members interested in participating are encouraged to RSVP by contacting MSA United Way at 701-255-3601 or by emailing rlee@msaunitedway.org or by clicking here.
