To honor this year's Day of Action, Women United held its 3rd annual Community Baby Shower to provide Bismarck/Mandan's at-risk mothers with essential baby items to help ensure a healthy beginning for their newborns. Volunteers packed 107 baskets on June 21 at Charity Lutheran Church. Each baby shower basket contained a laundry basket, blanket, 35 diapers, wipes, baby lotion and wash, onesie, outfit, a book from United Way's Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and information on resources in our community.
Women United has participated in the nationwide United Way Day of Action since 2010. Each year on June 21, thousands of people in hundreds of communities across the world volunteer with United Way to fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community.
This event wouldn't happen without the wonderful support of our volunteers and business sponsors. We know that with the high cost of diapers, one in three American mothers struggle to provide diapers for their babies. This fun project provides support directly to area mothers.
